Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST SESSION?
The first session together is an opportunity for you to get a sense of who your therapist is. they will assess what you'd like your goals to be, and work together to create a treatment plan. First sessions can always be intimidating, so we will go at a pace that you find appropriate. You'll likely find it much more laid back, calm, and less intensive than you originally anticipated.
IS THERE PAPERWORK BEFORE THE FIRST SESSION?
There is some intake paperwork, HIPAA, and informed consent that will be sent to you through email prior to your first session. Feel free to email back to ask any questions.
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
Most traditional individual psychotherapy sessions are 45-55 minutes long.
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
We are in network with KS Medicaid. For all other insurances we would be considered an out-of-network provider
Many insurance companies have out-of-network benefits that allow you to get reimbursed for treatment, though this cannot be guaranteed.
You can call the phone number on the back of your insurance card or go to your insurer's website to find out the process for filing your own claim.
WHAT WILL PROGRESS SHOW?
Therapy does not work overnight. It is a team effort between client and therapist, and for each client their pace and end results will look differently. Therapy a process and a journey, and because it may happen in small increments, it can sometimes feel like it might not be working, especially if you’re viewing it as a patient. Ask your therapist what progress can look like or what their goals are for you alongside your own goals.
